Offering body positive massage means working with a Health at Every Size philosophy, which is based on the simple premise that the best way to improve health is to honor your body. It supports people in adopting health habits for the sake of health and well-being (rather than weight control).

Health at Every Size encourages: Accepting and respecting the natural diversity of body sizes and shapes. Eating in a flexible manner that values pleasure and honors internal cues of hunger, satiety, and appetite. Finding the joy in moving one’s body and becoming more physically vital.

Massage is a practice in which I can positively affect people’s connections to their own bodies, and wisdom around what good health might look and feel like for them. Massage offers a hands-on opportunity to address physical pain, mechanical issues with joints, muscles and range of motion, and it can have a powerful impact on the emotional body as well.

As a body positive massage therapist, I have specific experience with helping people receive massage comfortably. I understand that having a larger body doesn’t mean I have to go deep to reach your muscles, or that massage needs to be painful. Body can receive the benefits of massage. All my work is done with a non-judgmental and loving attitude.

My practice is inclusive of people of all sizes, disabled people, lesbian, gay, queer, trans and/or gender non-conforming people.

What is Reiki or Energy Healing?

Reiki is a healing modality that originated in Japan in the late 1800's. The word "Reiki" is of Japanese origin and refers to the Universal Life Force. The name originates from the Japanese concepts of REI (spirit) and KI (life force, energy). In essence, Reiki is a method of harnessing the Universal Life Force that exists within us, the world around us, and all living creatures.  

Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with my hands placed and held on a series of locations. The placement of my hands is never intrusive or inappropriate. 

What to wear:

You will be fully clothed, so please dress comfortably. 


What might you experience with Reiki or Energy Healing?

The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner's hands, but sometimes the practitioner's hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body. 

People often comment how comforting and relaxing they find Reiki to be. Some people fall into a deep, sleep-like meditative state and can have an intense session, while other sessions may be uneventful. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress, and a feeling of deep relaxation like you just had a massage.  Several clients have told me that they feel like they just had a Spiritual massage. 

 


What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a 100% natural state of focused consciousness. Our ability to enter into this state can help us overcome issues such as pain, depression, anxiety, stress, or anything that we may need assistance otherwise. Hypnosis can help you change old habits and behaviors by simply providing positive suggestions to your subconscious mind.

While hypnosis remains, still today, to be one of the most fascinating or intriguing forms of healing, some people are still hesitant. Jessica will discuss any questions or concerns you have about Hypnosis during your Consultation to help ease your mind and guide you through the ins and out of a typical session.  

Hypnosis is natural and is very similar to experiencing a daydream. In and of itself it is a very pleasant experience. Hypnosis allows you to let go of your negative thoughts and focus on the issues you have come in to work on. When having Hypnosis your mind and body will feel relaxed. 


What are Hypnosis and Reiki used for?

Hypnosis is used for changing bad habits, overcoming fears and anxieties, reframing past experiences, relaxation, focus, coping with pain, and even improving physical health.

Can I be Hypnotized?

Of course! You already have. When you are driving down the road and lose track of time or when you are focusing on a book and you don’t even notice something that is going on around you is all forms of hypnosis. When you come in for hypnosis, all you need to do is be able to follow instructions of your hypnotist.

Anyone with the willingness and ability to follow instructions can experience hypnosis and use it to improve his/her life.


How often do I need to have a session?

REIKI:

The great thing is that the benefits happen with Reiki/Energy Healing with one session.  But like any therapy, consistency yields even greater results.  Expect to go 2-3 times before you really notice the difference Reiki can make for you.  

Hypnosis:

This is a very common question. Just like with any other treatment and modality, the number of sessions needed will depend on several factors such as: nature of the problem: stop smoking, stress, weight loss, lack of confidence, insomnia, fears, phobias, anger, sadness, pessimism, etc., severity of the problem, how long people have experienced a particular problem, how much stress they have in their lives, personality, level of motivation to overcome the problem, open-mindedness of the person, his/her cooperation during the process, whether the person believes they can overcome the problem or not, among other things.

For the most part, people can experience a change and improvement of their symptoms with a few sessions, but not everyone is the same. While it’s true that hypnosis can help us work at a subconscious mind level and move faster to accomplish the desired changes, some people might need more time than others, and that’s ok. In the beginning, I suggest people do one session per week for four weeks (or every 2 weeks if sooner is not possible) and then we can decide if more sessions are needed and how often.

I follow the code of ethics of the National Guild of Hypnotists  (NGH). I believe that anyone who has the right attitude can improve, make progress and sooner or later overcome their issues to be successful and live a happier, healthier and more meaningful life.


Can I do Hypnosis if I am seeing a counselor?

If you are currently involved with a counselor, I will give you a release form for your therapist to review and complete prior to our first session. 

Hypnosis is not a replacement for licensed professional counseling but can be used in conjunction to assist with your healing.  


What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Cash, Debit and all major Credit Cards. Please know with any debit/credit payments there will be a 4% processing fee. You can make payment at time of booking or during visit. 

NOTE: I do not carry cash, so please bring exact amount if paying with cash.


What is your refund policy?

Sessions are good for 90 days. If sessions haven't been used within the 90-day period a refund will not be given. If for any reason you are unhappy with your sessions, please contact Jessica at pranarelaxation@gmail.com.
